Tax

A significant portion of our work for private clients involves tax aspects. We work closely with clients and other advisors on a wide variety of tax advisory and contentious matters, including inheritance tax, capital gains tax and income tax, stamp duty land tax and value added tax on property transactions.

We regularly advise on the taxation of trusts and estates, charities and associations, and property, and are experienced advocates before the First-tier Tribunal (Tax), the Upper Tribunal and the courts. We also act in professional liability cases concerning tax planning.

Our barristers often advise on the drafting of wills and in respect of lifetime dispositions to achieve tax benefits. We also act for personal representatives and others in relation to post-death variations, and on issues such as domicile, agricultural and business property relief, and the valuation of assets.
